Site Manager's Log 2012

1/2/2012 Bought new years present for club. Got two "suspended Ceiling" frame kits and a box of 2 X 4 foot ceiling panels. Will donate to club.

1/3/2012 Put up extra supports and false wall in room. New inside room is 10 feet X 15 feet. Added trim where suspended ceiling will butt up to.

1/4/2012 Started installing the "side trim" for ceiling that will go around room edge.

1/5/2012 Finished "side Trim" and started first long support "I" piece. Put hangers in joists to suspend.

1/6/2012 Got enough up to start putting up ceiling panels. Hate this stuff. But looks good.

1/7/2012 Continued on ceiling. Going to run out of "I" and panels. Will have to go to Bibbins for more.

1/8/2012 Got more panels and two more "I" sections to complete the job. Is starting to look more like a finished room inside.

1/10/2012 worked on sliders for"ice cream" window in pavilion room. Will need to make two more units to complete.

1/11/2012 Selected nice piece of popular from Tuthill towers. It has been drying for a year and is ready to use Ripped into blanks 1.5 X 3. Planed to true size and routed out the channel for the glass and where the vertical and horizontal pieces will fit together.

1/12/2012 Assembled and glued the pieces for the center slider. Will keep room warm enough for glue to dry overnight. Put extra wood in boiler when leaving. Room up to 55 degrees inside.

1/13/2012 Ripped up popular for last slider in South West window

1/14/2012 Finished the third sliding window for south west window in room. This will be used to sell ice cream during convention.

1/15/2012 finished up the suspended ceiling. Had to use a piece of "blue board" as was one panel short. Room is feeling warmer. got up to 50 degrees inside enclosed room. Next few days look to be below zero so will not come because poor "Winters" feet get to cold.

1/20/2012 Old robot CPU from McGregor not working for more than an hour or two so brought my net book to see if it will run in pavilion (with cold) cold morning near zero and snowing. Started fire and brought in pieces of Black cherry.

1/21/2012 Another cold morning. To cold for Winter to stay for very long. Started a fire and planed out a blank for wood carver in Black Cherry.

1/22/2012 Started making slats to fill in the holes in the door into the heated room in the pavilion. Weather report says rain and in the 40's today

1/23/2012 Started fire. Built another window slider for the North West end of the room. This will be used for breakfast during pre con

1/24/2012 Really warm morning above freezing. Rained hard last night. Edged the last of the rough cuttings from the saw mill and put on the stack of finished wood. Cut up some of the "Edgings" to start reducing that pile. Will use for heat in the pavilion.

1/25/2012 Just below freezing today. The hill in front of the McGregor is a sheet of ice. Sanded down to the boiler so could walk there without falling. Continued cleaning up the "burnable" wood and stacking the prime wood onto piles by the stage area.

1/27/2012 In the 20's today. All the roads are icey. I slide all the way down the hill in front of the McGregor even with 4 studded snow tires on my Suburu. Cut and glued the second slider for the north western window of the room. Will have Chester hardware cut two pieces of p glass today.

1/28/2012 Anual Planning Meeting day. In the mid 30's and clear in the morning. Sawed up two logs today. One was a hemlock that made some nice 2 X 6's and a large maple log. The maple log was a bit spalted and colored through but some of the wood is nice and clear. The bad pieces will be used to make pallets and be burned to heat the pavilion.

1/30/2012 Is in the mid 20's this morning and snowing. Stacked the lumber cut on Saturday. Made more stringers for that task. Removed the insluation from the window on the north west side of the room and moved outside to all access to the inside. Fit the sliding window sections . Will have pieces of plexiglass cut today for them. At meeting on Saturday money was voted to finish off the lower room in the pavilion so that it could be used for mirror grinding and for convention. Mesured for the remainder of the insluation to bring the celling up to R of 20.

1/31/2012 Last day of January. Was a quite warm month with more days above freezing than below Zero. Continued putting sheets of 1" Blue Board insulation in cealing. Room is getting easer to heat in the morning. Today got up to 45.

2/1/2012 finished the blue board I had for the first load which was 8 pieces. another warm day.

2/2/2012 Got up to almost 50 yesterday. Was a mini mud season at the NewsBank parking lot. Hill was all ice on sues field down. Hope I can get back out when I leave. Working on sliding window in the north east end of the room.

2/3/2012 Another Friday and still spring like. A lot of ice so have to wear ice creepers to feed the fire that is heating this room. Purchased 8 more sheets of one inch P board to continue insulating the ceiling in the room. Put up 4 sheets today. Also put another quart of furnace Cement into the top of the boiler to help the heat transfer from the top to the pipe that contains the transfer fluid (anti freeze water to carry heat into Pavilion)

2/4/2012 put up 4 more sheets of blue board. Started processing some of the junk wood and slabs laying around the pavilion for the boiler. Slab wood in pallets is getting low. Will be close to have heat for rest of year.

2/5/2012 bought 8 more sheets of blue board for insulating the room. Only two sheets left at Bibbins. Dough up the floor in the south side of room and buried the pex line there under 12" square pavers. This will allow the heat to slowly rise the temperature in the south side of the room and keep the foundation to not freeze and push up. In the main pavilion the freezing is starting on the floor which rises it 2 or 3 inches. The south entry door is ok so far and the rising ground has not yet raised to meet the threshold.

2/6/2012 Another warm day coming should get into the mid 40's today. Put last bit of stove cement around the pipes on the top of the boiler which should increase efficiency. Put more PEX pipe under cement blocks in the south end of the room.

2/7/2012 No internet access this morning. Will have to check tomorrow and see if it reconnects. Worked putting more blue board up into ceiling.

2/9/2012 Learned that Vtel had a main core router go down two days ago which is why no internet. 27 this morning which is quite warm for this time of year. This is the warmest winter since weather was recorded in 1950 I heard on the news. Worked on the white covering for the sliding doors in the room today.

2/10/2012 Burried the remainder of the PEX pipe under the blocks holding up the walls in the south end of the room. They had started to freeze and rise with the cold of winter setting in. The heat from the boiler will warm the ground and blocks and slowly release the heat into the room after the fire in the boiler goes out.

2/11/2012 The cold snap predicted for this weekend has disappeared. It 30 this morning and lightly snowing. Continued working on the insulation.

2/14/2012 Made trip to Home Depot on Sunday to get suspended ceiling material to finish south end of room. Also got a sander to finish the windows in the room. Sanded down the windows to the north east window and gave first coat of Tung oil to preserve them.

2/15/2012 Gave windows some wood filler to fill up imperfections in wood. Tried to hook up web cam in pavilion but no luck.

2/16/2012 still working on web cam. Sanded wood filler on sliding window and put on second coat of Tung oil.

2/17/2012 Still working on Web cam. Gave window third coat of Tung oil.

2/18/2012 Success with Web Cam. Had to use the "Switch" portion of the router to get back to subnet Ken is using for other web cams (Bunkhouse is 192.168.2.x Pavilion is 192.168.3.x cam in pavilion is now 192.168.2.84:84). Finished up north east sliding window in room. Drilled two screws to the Sill so it wont keep falling off. Will work on rest of trim for window once I return from Philadelphia on Feb 25.

2/19/2012 Put up remainder of Blue Board insulation. Ceiling now has R 20 all over inside room. Looked for 8" long bolts to mount piece for suspended ceiling by the sliding "barn door" but only found 1. Will have to get some to put piece in place.

2/20/2012 to 2/24/2012 On a road job to Philly for NewsBank

2/25/2012 Windy morning. Cut up kindling for the boiler. Stacked slabs from last saw mill operation into bin for the boiler.

2/26/2012 A little snow. The plow guy went through but wasn't much. Stacked the wood from last saw mill operation. Went to Home Depot and got long bolts and 10 more celling panels (can only transport one box at a time because they are so bulky).

2/27/2012 mounted the board by barn doors to mount celling pieces to. Ran the wall side trim for the celling on the south west section of the room.

2/28/2012 worked more on celling. Mounted more wall trim pieces and the first run of main celling grid. Working around the lighting that is on celling trying to make work.

2/29/2012 Running low on fire wood. Will have to see if I can find some more to get to spring. 6-10 inches of snow predicted for tonight. Moved the east most string of lights on the south side of the room so I can put up the grid. (they were at the same spacing from the wall the grid needs to be)

3/1/2012 Continued moving light strings to allow grid to fit in suspended celing

3/2/2012 -3/3/2012 First real snow storm of the seasion. Got 12 to 14 inches at Stellafane. The plow guy came on Thursday And I plowed all on Friday. Including all the way to the saw mill to keep it open.

3/4/2012 Another storm came this morning leaving an additional 3 inches of snow but is raining now. Didnt plow what was there so the rain doesnt turn to ice. Continued working on the suspended cealing in the room. Made trip to Home Depot and got another carton of celing tiles (they come 10 2 X4 sheets which is all my suburu can carry at one time.. the pickup truck still has the plow on it)

3/5/2012 Continued putting up celing. Added some supports to the far south end to hold up the grid where the large opening is (was the stairway opening to the orininal second floor.. new stairway is outside the room on the north end)

3/6/2012 Was below zero this morning. Was to cold for Winters paws so stayed home.

3/7/2012 Continued on Sothern portion of room suspended celing.

3/8/2012 Finished the grid work on the celing and put up all the panels I had. Will have to buy another carton of 2 X 4 foot celing panels next time I am at Home Depot. Weather is getting better was light at 5:30 this morning. There was a larg cronal Mass Ejuction from the sun yesterday that was scheduled to hit earth at 5:00 ish but I didnt see any northern lights.

3/9/2012 Put up last three cross braces that I missed yesterday in the grid. Looked over upstairs to see what is needed to finish the room upstairs. Looks like I can go by the roof trusses with the wood I will use for finishing the walls and have the cealing hang from the trusses. The walls would not be connected to the truss so need some kind of slip joint there as the celing will be moving with the main building and the room walls will be supported from the ground. no connection.

3/10/2012 Put up the last of the cealing panels. Was here long enough to heat the room to almost 60 degrees so put the scratch coat of mud on the north side of the room which is patitioned so stays warmer. Will to wait for warmer weather to do the south end of the room.

3/11/2012 Room at 34 degrees this morning. Scratch coat is mostly dry. Will heat up room to help dry. Started working on second floor room to get it ready to put suspended cealing on. Wont insulate the walls at this time. Will put up wood inside to close in. Normal double coat pine will give around a R 5. The upstairs doesnt get used during heating seasion so shouldnt be a problem.

3/12/2012 Started producing the 9" wide shiplap boards to cover the walls upstairs. Mounted the first two 2 X 4 cross members that will hold the suspended cealing grid.

3/13/2012 Cut to size and ship lapped some pine that was cut a month ago. It is difficut to ship lap because the chips clog the router table vacume. I have to keep stopping and clearing the clog so the chips dont build up and push the board away from the router.

3/14/2012 Another hot day. Room was 45 degrees when I arrived. If the warm weather keeps up I may be able to put the "scratch coat" of mud on the south end of the room. Worked the day fitting two boards around power and ethernet plug in room upstairs.

3/15/2012 Breezy hill road really bad. Almost got stuck in mud a number of places. Jordan road is ok. Roads inside the gate ok. Worked on west inside wall of upstairs room.

3/16/2012 Room at 39 degrees this morning. Only put in one arm load yesterday so less heat in floor. Continued to work on west inside wall of upstairs room. Only one more board to go on that side.

3/17/2012 Milled three more ship lap boards. Finished the west wall and started on the north and south walls.

3/182012 Warm day. Worked outside getting a few boards from the kilm. Replaced the 20 inch fan in Tuthill towers to start air circulation around the wood again. I had taken the fan there to use in the pavilion to blow air over the wood there so it would not mold.

3/19/2012 Pulled off the horizontal boards on the south wall of the upstairs room down to table level. Will run vertical boards above that to match the rest of the room.

3/20/2012 put put vertical boards through about half the north and south wall. Put up the flush mounting plastic grid for suspended celing for first 2 feet on west side of celing.

3/21/2012 Trip home yester over breezy hill road was really bad. The town had run the grader over the road and reduced it to a quaking swamp. Room was 52 degrees when I arrived today. Will build fire to put as much heat in floor as possible to help dry out room inside. If temprature stays high will mud the south end sheetrock in the ground floor room.

3/22/2012 worked on upstairs room until battry gave out in drill. Then put the scratch coat on the south end of the ground floor room until I ran out of mud. Will pick up another bucket of mud today.

3/22/2012 Forgot the Mud. Worked on paneling for upstairs room

3/23/2012 Warm morning. Started sawing a Oak log.

3/24/2012 Finished the log and stacked the boards on the harwood pile setting on the stage in the pavilion. Finished muding the scratch coat in the south end of the ground floor room. Ed Bourgoing stopped by in the morning to chat. I will miss the monthly meeting this month to attend the 80th birthday for my mother inlaw.

3/26/2012 46 this morning in room when arrived. Windy day. With low temp in the ground floor will take a few more days for scratch coat to fully dry. Wondering on paint color for room. Dont want to just paint white.

3/27/2012 Back to winter was 21 and the roads refroze. Worked inside the ground floor room in the pavilion. Took down the devider to make one big room for summer.

3/28/2012 Continued working on dissassembling the devider which is difficut as screws are up in celing in bad place to get to.

3/29/2012 Short morning. Went up to pink. Road was passable but some blow downs from high wind of earlier in the week. The rail fence around the pink needs work. lots of cross bars are on the ground and the solar lights had their top blown out.

3/30/2012 Another cold morning. 36 inside the room when I got here. Working on celing where the devider had been.

3/31/2012 Snowy morning. Worked on upstairs room. Jeff, Ray, and Jay brounght back the mirror grinding stuff from the Fletcher house for the year. The next two mirror grinding classes will be on the hill. Started to rearrange the room for use for that.

4/1/2012 Day started off sunny and nice but quickly started clouding up. Moved the "Ramps" I built to get the dump truck up off the ground to the saw mill area. I will put saw logs on them so they dont set in the mud. The mud is dulling the saw blades. Nice day so did some road work. Put bucket of stone in "WoodHenge" field where new road is crossing over. New Section is pretty muddy will need to build up base. This new section will be used for moving between pavilion and saw mill so dont have to use the "soft" section of road at intesection of "Pine Island" and "woodhenge".

4/2/2012 Put short suspended celing pieces around the vertical supports in the ground floor room. Looks like I can build two shelf units one around each support to finish them. Put one of the celing lights in the upstairs room.

4/3/2012 worked on lights in celing of upper room.

4/4/2012 Mounted light switch and more light work

4/5/2012 Finished lights. Put up three more celing panels

4/6/2012 Bought 10 16 inch pavers for lower room. Brought in pallet to hold them till I have enough to start the floor. My Suburu can only move 10 at a time.

4/7/2012 Did some road work on short strech accross WoodHenge. Got pretty soft after the ground unfroze. Added Added enough stone to help. Sawed a log of Hemlock into 2 x 6 for Tuthill Towers. Need to make Dry wood racks inside to hold the wood that has seasioned.

4/8/2012 Sawed up a log of White Birch into 3 x 3 square sticks. I will use them for the cross braces in Tuthill Towers to hold the dry wood. Also moved around some logs in the storage area in Hartys Yard so logs dont sit on the ground. That should keep them dryer and trap less dirt in the bark.

4/9/2012 Put up another section of celing in upstairs room.

4/10/2012 Brought up CarveWright and setup. Will use it to carve signs and molds for named pavers.

4/11/2012 Started makeing "mother boards" for special two line paver forms.

4/12/212 Cut the second mother board

4/13/2012 Cut the third mother board. Cut to length the "cross overs" that will hold the dry wood in Tut Towers

4/14/2012 Work day. Only Jeff showed up. We put up part of the dry wood racks in Tuthill towers. Setup a Tig welder and tried to weld aluminum for the pavers molds. No filler rod so didnt get to far.

4/15/2012 Looked all over town for aluminum filler rod. found none. Tried using a piece of aluminum house wire but didnt work well with aluminum I am trying to weld. Finished the wood racks in Tut towers. Moved some of the dry wood into the new racks.

4/16/2012 Started putting together the paver molds. Will have to make more inserts with the proper names.

4/17/2012 Carved two names today for perminent pavers. Finished second coat of sheetrock MUD in lower room.

4/18/2012 Carved more names. Worked on the wood storage racks in Tuthill towers.

4/19/2012 Put more celing tiles on upstairs room. Started fire to warm up room for weekend meeting.

4/20/2012 Carved more names and started to paint them. They need three coats of paint so the cement will not sink into the fiber board and make the mold not release when the paver is cured.

4/21/2012 Meeting day. Finished carving the names. Painted all the names one coat of paint. Moved the big stack of hardwood into the solar kilm. Moved the wood that has been there all winter to the new racks built for that in Tuthill Towers. With Jeffs help sawed a log of hemlock for planks to use in the cement forms when we repour the wall in the bunkhouse basement.

4/22/2012 Raining hard. Gave coat of paint to the carved names for the paver molds. Went to Tractor Warehouse and Home depot. Got lights and fenders for WOOD transport trailer. Got last package of celing tials to complete the upstairs room.

4/23/2012 Raining hard and wind blowing stayed home in morning. Total rain for weekend was 2.95 inches of well needed rain.

4/24/2012 Rain stopped. Didnt do any damage to the roads. Gave another coat of paint to the carved paver names.

4/25/2012 Glued paver names into forms and sealed around edges of name so water will not get into the form and cause problems with the press board underneath.

4/26/2012 Made the cross pieces for the forms that will keep cement in place. Made of Aluminum this time as it is lighter and more corsion proof. Tried to weld the center pieces together but aluminum didnt weld well. Investigated the basement of the bunk house where fondation is crumbling. Basement was clear. Will need a crow bar to pry the electrical panel off the wall. Looks like it will be just a piece of wire to prop the panel up once free of the wall.

4/28/2012 Made Paver form center pieces from steel so they can be welded. Welded the center pieces together.

4/29/2012 worked on trailer for transporting wood. Put stiffiners on the long way to make stronger. Fitted fenders and directional lights to the frame. Ripped the electrical box from the wall in the bunkhouse basement and suspended from the celing so I could get to the damaged cinder block wall under it. Ran cross supports and legs to hold up the floor joists on the first floor once the wall was removed.

4/30/2012 Put last coat of paint on the paver forms to help with release when the paver is cured. Painted the fenders for the wood transport trailer which will be difficult to get to once they are welded on. Started pulling down the cinderblock wall. Is in poor shape and leaning. Had to brace and cross block the wall so it would not fall down at once. Will take it apart one block at a time.

5/1/2012 Cut some 2 by stuff for the forms in the bunkhouse basement

5/2/2012 Put supports in Bunkhouse basement and moved the Secondary Electrical box. Hung the box from the celing to get out of the way.

5/3/2012 Started taking down cinderblocks that were damaged. Entire wall unstable so made supports to hold wall while taking apart.

5/4/2012 Worked on the "log transport" trailer that had started life as a coleman pop up tent trailer. Started making a central stiffiner to make trailer stronger for logs. Put on new tire on the right side. Old one was bald.

5/5/2012 Started morning making more 2 bys for the form in the bunkhouse. Than welded a little on the trailer. Around 9 Jeff, Dave, Wayne and Ray showed up. We finished taking down the old cinderblock wall. Shoveled out the dirt that fell down. Than we built the first 3 feet of form up. Ran out of wood and was tired from work around noon. Quit for the day. After that Dave went up to the Pink to start the spring cleanup. Spring cleanup mostly consisted of cleaning the stuff that wasnt properly put up last fall such as the frig which as usual required unloading.

5/6/2012 Did more welding on the trailer. Made more 2 bys for the form in the bunkhouse. Installed another level on the forms and shoveled more dirt in back of the form under the cement slab that is by the door enterence.

5/7/2012 Monday again. Boy does the weekend fly. Cut more 2 Bys. Shoveled the last of the dirt in back of the form. Put up another layer. Found the "fence plyers" makes working the form ties much easier. Welded more on the "log transport trailer".

5/8/2012 Cut a 10 inch wide 2 by to fit around the slab section that is sticking into the form. Will drill and re-rod it so it will become part of the new support wall once the cement is pored.

5/9/2012 Installed the 10 inch wide plank cutting around the slab so it fit into to form. Wired it in with 9 gage wire to make strong

5/10/2012 Cut 8 inch plank for last course of the form. This will fit on top of the cement slab. Welded on Sawlog transport trailer. finished most of the cross ties holding the central trusses which will help support the weight of the log for the full length of the trailer.

5/11/2012 Installed the 8 inch plank on top of the slab and used "spray in Foam" to fill cracks. Foam can aplicator was broken so got foam everwhere. Was a difficult job getting it off my hands.

5/12/2012 Putting finishing touches on the form to make sure it is tight and wont collapse when filled with cement. Found "blank" paver form pieces and started assembling into a form that the stick on letters can be used with. Welded more on the sawlog trailer.

5/13/2012 to 5/18/2012 Road trip to Libuary Company of Phillidelphia (Ben Franklins libuary in Philly that is presently the oldest libuary in the country). Worked the week installing new equipement and training new enployee for NewsBank.

5/19/2012 Work session day. Poured the forms in the Bunkhouse.Lots of hands pitched in to help with this

5/20/2012 Checked forms to be sure were ok. Made preperations and mounted the mowing deck on the Kobota.

5/21/2012 Finished preping the tractor and started the first mowing. Grass was already "flowered" and had pollen. Really early to start mowing. Mowed Sues field and some of Convexity.

5/22/2012 Moved cement mixer down to pavilion to get out of weather. Will make a new "stand" under it to raise it to a level it pores into the wheelboro. Presently is on two pallets that are pretty well gone.

5/23/2012 Raining. Tore down forms on inside of basement of bunkhouse. Cement looks good

5/24/2012 Need water for pouring pavers. Emptyed tank and got gunk out that was plugging lines. Lines were 1/2 inch and to small to move water efficiently and constantly plugging up. Will replace with 1 inch line.

5/25/2012 Still working on water for pavilion. Buggs are impossible even with bug dope. Will have to put Misketo donuts in "Fin's Bathtub" to reduce before convention.

5/26/2012 Got water working to barrell with a garden hose. Works better than before but still not a lot of presure. May put a booster pump in to help now that large enough line is there. Made first pavers for the year. Cast 5 Simoni perminant pavers and one to replace a paver that is cracked in the floor. Continued mowing some

5/27/2012 Cleaned the left side of the "saw log" trailer and painted.

5/28/2012 Wet but mowed anyways.

5/29/2012 Mowed and put some gravel on road down over hill from VAS level on the new land.

5/30/2012 Used nippers and Battry operated "sawzall" to remove overgrown limbs from road over the hill. Very wet still so cannot get down far enough to retrieve the counterweight I lost there last fall. Need to get this road open so can get to the "ASH" logs still laying on ground that couldnt get out last year because road got to muddy.

5/31/2012 Mowed a little but wet in most of the lower places. Worked on paver forms to get ready for pour on Saturday

6/1/2012 Worked on "Saw log" trailer

6/2/2012 Work session day. Jeff, Ken, Ray, John G, and a new guy showed up. Took first pavers of year from molds and made moldes ready for another batch. Mixed batch and added two now "Tape letters down" type mold. Also John G sanded the room in the pavilion. I and the new guy put down a number of pavers in the new room.

6/3/2012 Made computer program to carve signs for "brook water do not drink", No Camping, and No camping No observing. Also dough some of the floor in the room for more pavers.

6/4/2012 Carved two signs and dough more on floor

6/5/2012 Carved two signs and dough more on floor

6/6/2012 Carved another sign and started putting the PEX pipe in the floor that has been readied for the pavers.

6/7/2012 Fall last night and hurt ribs in same spot I did years ago on the well casing in front of the bunk. Sleeping difficult and cant ride mower for a bit. Primed the carved signs

6/8/2012 to 6/19/2012 Computer broken so notes by memory. During this time poured floor in bunk for Bridgeport. Carved numerous signs. Mowed more of first cutting. Worked on "saw log trailer". Installed more pavers in the pavilion room. Removed problem tree from the Pine Island that will be used for saw logs. And helped Dave work on the new membrane roof for the bunk.

6/20/2012 Welded fenders on "saw log trailer" and wired the backup lights. First trip today to the Martin Wood lot to get three pine saw logs. All went smoothly.

6/21/2012 to 6/30/2012 Continuing to have computer problems brief notes follow Made three more trips with "saw log trailer" to move Pine and Basswood saw logs from the Martin wood lot Finished the 25 Somoni named pavers casting. Should be hard enough to put into the floor before convention Worked on floor in new room.2/3 done.Should be complete by convention Working on "Carved" signage using our wood. Carver is working nicely and takes about 20 minutes per sign Moving wood around and getting ready for convention. First mowing is completed. Fixing the road down to where the ASH trees are which is soft. Will get road fixed with a few buckets of gravel. Once that is done I can get the "Tractor Counterweight" I lost there last year in the mud and the three saw logs remaining there that was to soft to think about moving.

The Computer that The Site Managers Log is kept on was not operational from July 1 to the start of Convention

The lack of this computer and the busyness that happens at this time each year has made keeping the log impossible

Some of the things that happened during this time on site were as follows

Grass cutting was completed using the large Kobota Tractor and a 5 foot dia mowing deck

Final work on the new room inside the Pavilion was competed such as laying the pavers to make a hard floor

Painting and manintaince was completed on the buildings

The White posts around the site were strightened and any needing it was replaced

The Pavilion was setup to accomodate talks

And the list goes on almost endlessly as many willing helpers piched in to make this years convention wonderful

7/31/2012 Started final mowing today. Has rained each day for the last week so the grass is growing more rapidly that usual. Set the CarveWright to making more "pineapples" for sale at Convention. Also carved a sign for Convexity "Park to String No Camping"

The Computer that The Site Managers Log is kept on was not operational from July 1 to the start of Convention

8/1/2012 To 8/20/2012 Computer broken most of Aug. Carl produced a new computer running windows 7 which works well but the weather had been full of thunder storms that have caused problems with the Modem in the Bunkhouse and the Power line Ethernet connectors (to move the network over the powerlines to the pavilion). This convention was one of the memorable ones with only a little light sprinkle on Friday (friday night not so good for viewing but Saturday was spectacular). Made a number of things for sale on the t shirt table on my Wood Wright carver. The smaller things did sell but the "Porter Sundial" reproduction sold the best. The 5 I had carved were sold out in the first few hours of t shirt operation. Rented a 4 seat golf cart for use by the dignitarys and at precon. That worked well. Evey thing came together well. Time to start preparing for next convention.

8/21/2012 Moved Ellens tractor down to the pavilion. Worked on bank of Crossover between Marios hollow and Hartys Yard that had become filled with material flowing down from above on the way there.

8/22/2012 Moved the Stellafanes tractor down to the pavilion. Moved Scotties trailer back into the pavilion. Moved the golf cart down to the pavilion.

8/23/2012 Removed some rocks from the road between the pavilion and equipment alley (sawmill) that were sticking up enough to effect the snow plow. Graded road back and made ready for winter.

8/24/2012 Made new attachment plate for "tractor forklift Forks" that got lost during convention. Moved computer back down to lower room. Started moving "wood working tools" back to the "stage area" of the pavilion.

8/25/2012 Moved wood working tables back to the "stage area" of the pavilion. Sawed up a 23" dia pine log to get some "carving blanks" for next years convention. Got 14" wide inch and 1 1/2 inch thick boards. Around 230 board feet of lumber from this one log.

8/26/2012 Made bench over welding table at north east end of pavilion which also holds clip on lights to better iluminate the welding area. Doug around large rock next to road just below the pavilion which has been a problem for many years. Moved Ellens tractor home.

8/27/2012 Started cracking apart the large rock with fethers and wedges. Got one large flake of and tryed to crack the bolder in half. Bolder started to crack but ran out of Fethers and Wedges. Will have to stop by the quarry in Gassetts today and buy more.

8/28/2012 More work on rock with new wedged. Didnt get much more

8/29/2012 More work on rock got a little bit today.

8/30/2012 More work on rock got about 250 pounds today. This rock is very eregular with no clear clevage.

8/31/2012 More work on the rock got another 250 pounds today. Sharpened up the drills to cut faster. Two loads of gravel arrived today from Jarvis pit in Ascutney. It is the best gravel left in the area and much better than the gravel from Charlstown but is only available some of the time.

9/1/2012 Jeff and I worked on the big stone and got three good flakes off it. I did some road work moving a dump truck full of fill to the area north of the swap area to fill numerous stones that were removed. Another load up to Kaabs hideout area. and another in fron of the pavilion to improve the parking.

9/2/2012 Got another flake off the big stone. Removed some of the large flakes and got them out of the hole. Tried to move the big stone which did wiggle but still to large to move out of the hole. Filled in holes made by stone removal in the equipment alley area. Worked up another ash saw log and some firewood.

9/3/2012 Still working on the big rock. Got two more big flakes and the rock now wiggles when pulled by the tractor but still to big to get out of the hole. Cut up some of the old firewood by the main "barway" in front of the bunk.

9/4/2012 Got another few big flakes but not yet on the rock.

9/5/2012 Broke off last chips that will be enough to get what is left well below the surface level. Cemented in two eye hooks to be able to lift out the last two big flakes. 9/6/2012

Pulled last two pieces out of hole. Still a big piece left but deep enough in the ground that it wont matter once gravel is put over it. Brought down two buckets of gravel to mix with the material that was originally in the hole. That made the hole safe so no one will drive into it but will need more fill to make acceptable for parking

9/7/2012 Moved two loads of dirt and one of gravel to the pavilion parking work. Spread and compacted the two loads of dirt. Todays rain will help pack it.

At 3pm met up at the McGregor to talk about a Robotic Telescope a group would like to set at Stellafane. Up All Night was cancelled because of Torinado warnings all over Vermont. The main gust front came through right around 7 pm which had high winds and lots of rain.

9/8/2012 To wet to move gravel. Sawed up two small boards for "battens" to replace te narrower battens on the mirror grinding lab 1 inside the pavilion. The older battens were to narrow for the pink "pillar Plaques".

9/9/2012 Moved two more loads of dirt. Smoothed it out and covered with the load of gravel that was sitting from two days ago.

9/10/2012 Moved three more loads of gravel to cap the dirt. Smoothed it out and compacted it with my car.

9/11/2012 sawed two logs and moved another pallet into the pavilion. Have 3 inside now for winter and another full one at the sawmill.

9/12/2011 sawed two more small logs one of Ash one of Cherry.

9/13/2011 Cleaned up around saw mill. Cut up another small log. Not much wood in the small logs. Moved the fourth pallet of wood into the pavilion.

9/14/2012 My white Suburu had a head gasket go on the engine this morning. Car is dead now. Found another 2000 suburu in town to replace it. The new one is purple.

9/15/2012 Meeting day. Sawed a log of Oak. Moved the sawed harwood into the Pavilion. Cut up the slabs on the saw buck into pieces and packed them into another pallet. Moved pallet into pavilion Now 4 ready for winter (one cord so far).

9/16/2012 Moved last two loads of gravel down to the new parking area for the pavilion next to the sothern stone wall. Dump truck was difficult to start this morning. Added 5 gallons of gas and it started. Its amazing how poorly the truck starts with no gas ;-)

9/17/2012 Only 42 again this morning. Fall is coming. Tried to start the heater for the seasion. Was unplugged during convention so had to reconnect than realized there was not enough "coolant" in the system for the pipe under the new floor section. Will have to get another gallon today before running.

9/18/2012 Added coolant to heater system and started up to clear air. Eveything checks out. Cut down dead Hemlock from between the swap area and Marios hollow. It was live this spring and died during the summer. Got 3 small saw logs from it. Sawed up the smallest log and got 6 12 foot long 2 X 6's.

9/19/2012 Short morning. Had to get back to house to meet plumber by 7:00 am. Put down the last paver in the floor inside "Mirror grinding lab 1" in the pavilion.

9/20/2012 Another cold morning was 36. Started up Betlejuice once I moved all the wood pieces out of the way of the stove which was put there during precon cleanup. Thermostat on the furnace wasnt working so will have to trouble shoot what is wrong.

9/21/2012 Got here early. Was dark until almost 7:00. "Edged" a number of pieces of wood that have been setting at the north end of the Pavilion and put them into 4 seperate stacks. One for Hardwood. One for 1 1/2 X hemlock which are structual. one for 1 1/2 inch wide pine boards which will be used for carving items for sale at convention. The last pile will be for 1 " soft wood which will be mostly pine but could also be hemlock or spruce.

9/22/2012 Jeff and I worked and sawed two hemlock logs into structural 2 X 's. Also cut two Ash trees from the way back and dragged out 5 saw logs.

9/23/2012 Cleanup day. Brushed up Ash trees. Cut to length the hemlock slabs and put them in a pallet. Scopped out the saw dust that had accumulated around the saw mill.

9/24/2012 Tractor (Kobota) front wheel drive started "SNAPPING" yesterday. Investigated and found the Coupling that was replaced two years ago had worn again. This time the Pinion gear on the differential of the front wheel assembly was worn to the point it was slipping. Called Pinnicle view equipment and discuss. They say it will be around $2K to fix. Made arrangements to get the Kobota to them.

9/25/2012 Worked the tractor in 2 wheel drive and sawed first ash log.

9/26/2012 Cut second ash log and some sticks to dry with.

9/27/2012 Sawed third ash log.

9/28/2012 Rainy drabe day. Stayed home and programmed on the woodwright for next years carvings. Am working on the nationl gelogical survey marker from in front of the clubhouse.

9/29/2012 Still rainy, cleaned up and restacked wood at north end of pavilion so it will dry well. Helped move barrells down for mirror class. Cut up some 4 1/2 wide battons for the mirror grinding lab to replace batts that were to thin to mount the pink plaques.

9/30/2012 Still rainy but only drizzling. Cut up last two ash logs. Wood will make a great floor upstairs at the mirror grinding lab in the pavilion. Also put a 20" pine log on the sawmill and cut a few passes. Will leave remainder on bed of saw mill in case special wood is needed before tractor gets back from repairs. Took off the forks and counter weight on the tractor so Pinicle View can pick up on monday.

10/1/2012 Dont think rain will end any time soon. Working inside. put up two more 4 1/2 inch wide battons on the outside of the mirror grinding lab. Finished programming on the geological survey marker for carving. First one will be a replica.

10/2/2012 Preped the wood for the carving blank for the first geological marker. Carved it. Took home as wood was still a bit uncured even though it was air cured for a year. Built a heater and will "cook" the wood at around 120 degrees to finish cure before painting.

10/3/2012 After a night of "cooking" the carved blank is covered with pitch that was inside the wood. Cleaned off the dripping pitch with a paper towel and continued cooking. Changed the program of the geological marker to say "HOME OF Amature telescope making" was "250 dollar fine for" on the actual marker. It takes about 1 hour to carve a 8" dia marker. n the tractor so Pinicle View can pick up on monday.

10/4/2012 Made a wood "cooker" from a 30 gallon barrell and a 150 watt "block heater" which is a silicon rubber heating patch that provides heat. This will hold the wood at around 110 degrees and litterly cook the pitch and sap out of the wood to stabolize it.

10/5/2012 Painted one of the geological survey carvings with bin. letting it cure for a day before putting on bronze paint to make it look like the actual plaque. The second carving was coated with tung oil and will be natural wood appearence.

10/6/2012 working on heat exchanger for LP gas to heat the mirror grinding lab. Raining as usuall

10/7/2012 Welded together the heat exchanger. Cut up slabs that had acculumulated on the saw buck by the saw mill. Did not do any sawing as tractor is still at Pinicle view having the front end drive worked on.

10/8/2012 Checked the heat exchanger for leaks and there were many. Tried to use 7013 to seal but didnt work to well. Got some 6011 welding rod to try tomorrow.

10/9/2012 Tried to patch the holes using 6011 and still leaks. Will try more tomorrow. Carved another Geological Survey marker plack from pine. The pine had been in the mini kilm for a few days and carved much cleaner. The 150 watt heater in the mini kilm burned out and will need replacing. For now will use a light bulb to provide heat.

10/10/2012 Replaced heater with a 60 watt lightbulb. Continued welding leads in the heat transfer unit

10/11/2012 Mini kiln only got up to 70 degrees inside. Will have to get higher wattage bulb. Continued welding on the heat exchanger. Had started the wood fire to warm up the mirrir grinding lab but the electric plug for the pump didnt work right and boiler overheated which made the PEX melt at the connection. Will have to replace with higher temp pipe.

10/12/2012 Put 2 1/2 foot length of "Car Radiator hose" between boiler and the PEX to take the heat. Started up again and found the short multi plug extension cord was the problem yesterday. Will have to rewire more solidly. 75 watt bulb in mini kilm brought up to around 80 degrees. Will have to get a 100 watt which should bring temp just about right.

10/13/2012 Monthly meeting day. Got here early and got heat going to all buildings. This was first Mirror class day for 2012 classes. Refuled the truck for winter to get ready for plowing. Was 22 this morning and hard freeze

10/14/2012 Cold rainy day. Tractor still at Pinicle view being worked on. Stayed home and worked on home things.

10/15/2012 welded on the propane heat exchanger to seal leaks.

10/16/2012 Welded more on propane heat exchanger. Think I have all the tiny leaks now. Will get stuff to hook up tomorrow morning. Put up three more of the replacement 4 1/2 inch wide bats on the front of Mirror Grinding Lab 1. The older ones were 3 1/2 inches wide and not wide enough to mount the "Pink Pillar plaques".

10/17/2012 temp in lab 50 pavilion 34. Still working on getting the heat exchanger leak tite. Built shelf to put propane burner on by pump outside the lab

10/18/2012 temp in lab 54 pavilion 42. Worked on a barrell that will sorround the propane burner. Welded hinges and cut a door to work inside with

10/19/2012 temp in lab 57 pavilion 49. Raining heavy. worked on the heat exchanger and propane heater for the lab.

10/20/2012 temp in lab 61 pavilion 57. Really warm and foggy this morning. Connected the Propane loop and did test run. Using just the "Porsch radiator look" got water up to 87 degrees. Will have to look at improving efficiency of the heat exchanger to get more heat into the room.Replaced rusty piece of 8" chimmney pipe in betlejeuse.

10/21/2012 temp in lab 57 pavilion 47.Put a "T" section of 8" chimmeny pipe on top of betlejeus to keep water from coming down the pipe when it rains. Fabricated top for the propane heater w\ 4" stove pipe attached for outside vent.

10/22/2012 temp in lab 57 pavilion 47. Trimmed in wood on north window of the lab. Used a nice piece of Ash for the sill. Pine I used on the sides and top were a little green which caused them to go through the planer a little slow but should be ok.

10/23/2012 temp in lab 55 pavilion 44. Put white trim on window to the north of the lab. Need to make more of the white 3 1/2 wide trim boards to finish the lab.

10/24/2012 temp in lab 53 pavilion 39.Cut bottom piece on north window from two shorter pieces and finished trimming the window. Still need some more trim for the floor on the north end.

10/25/2012 tmep in lab 54 pavilion 44. cutup some cured pine to 3 1/2 wide to use for trim

10/26/2012 temp in lab 56 pavilion 48. Put copper strips in the heat exchanger to improve efficiency. Will be adding more to extract as much heat as possible from the burner. Primed the top of the trim strips I cut yesterday.

10/27/2012 temp in lab 57 pavilion 48. Started fire in betelgeuse for mirror class today. Fog really heavy today. Starting prep for coming huricane "Sandy". Put "slot" on 14 foot dome outside the pavilion and all the extra clamps and support bars that were not installed at precon.

10/28/2012 temp in lab 60 pavilion 49. "Sandy" is coming for sure. Put a series of blocks around the bottom of the 14 foot dome to tie into the platform so it would not blow away. Moved the lower door into position to keep wind out and put a pallet in front of it to break wind. National weather service is calling for the first big wind to hit tomorrow morning by 6 am.

10/29/2012 temp on lab 57 pavilion 49. "Sandy is due to hit today with winds gusts perdicted to be up to 70 mph. If that happens may not be able to get to hill becaused of downed trees on the road. Not perdicting much in the way of rain at only two inches.

10/30/2012 temp in lab 60 pavilion 53. Made it through the first day of Sandy with little problem. The wind was pretty strong with lots of little twiggs in the road but nothing major. The power has not gone out yet. Rain and wind continue but are decreasing.

10/31/2012 temp in lab 60 pavilion 51. Sandy is not broken up and no longer anything but a little rain. Put in an electrical box to control the heater in the lab. Need more fittings to finish.

11/1/2012 temp in lab 54 pavilion 42. Looks like colder weather coming. Brazed a copper ring around the top of the heat exchanger to attach copper fingers to that will extract more heat to improve the efficiency of the propane heater for the lab.

11/2/2012 temp in lab 53 pavilion 40. Stories of the dammage to New York City continue to come in. Millions still without power after 4 days.Brazzed 5 more rods of brazing material on to the heat sink (half done). The 1/2 inch thick steel is taking a lot of heat to get high enough for the braze to melt and making it difficult. Cut and formed the first heat sink piece which was 4" X 8" and a finger cut ever half inch to catch the heat. Attached with 6-32 screws and "Graphite Grease" to act as a thermal conductor between the two pieces.

11/3/2012 temp in lab 51 pavilion 38. Continued work on the heat exchanger. Started fire in Betelguse to warm up the floor in the lab.

11/4/2012 Twisted my ancle at home. Spent day on couch with leg up in the air to let the swelling go down.

11/5/2012 temp in lab 47 pavilion 36. Painted the propane heater hi temp black. Cutout and formed another fin assembly for heat exchanger. Still no tractor making it difficult to do many things. Hope it comes back before major snow fall.

11/6/2012 temp in lab 42 pavilion 25. Burrrr the ground froze up for the first time. Put plow on my blue truck. snow expected tomorrow or Thursday which could be a foot.

11/7/2012 temp in lab 42 pavilion 29. Obama is the new president. The first light dusting of snow on the grass. Tractor is still at Pinicle view but is expected back by the end of the week. Started fire in beteleause to get lab warmer for this weekends mirror grinding class.

11/8/2012 temp in lab 44 pavilion 33. Tarctor is outside waiting to work. Pinicle view gave it a nice steam clean so it is bright and shiny. Snow did not hit Stellafane as the strom was to far south. I will start moving logs into the pavilion for the winter so they wont get stuck in the snow or get wet. Finished sawing up the cant that was on the mill. got 6 1 x 12 boards 12 feet long of pine.

11/9/2012 temp in lab 46 pavilion 33. bilt a good fire in beteleguse for tomorrows mirror grinding class. Continued moving logs into pavilion.Sawed up some 10 inch wide pine and a number of 1 inch sq sticks for drying

11/10/2012 temp in lab 48 pavilion 36 floor 54. Meeting day. Continued cleanup moving logs inside pavilion to keep dry for winter. Sawed up 10 12 foot long 2 X 4 hemlock studs and 7 1 X 10 12 foot long pine boards. Moved 5 bucket loads of sawdust around the fileds in "Hartys Yard" to improve soil quality which is poor in that area.

11/11/2012 temp in lab 50 pavilion 50 ( pump left on) floor 57. halled two loads of Red Pine logs from home. Cut up one small log and got 6 1 X 5 boards 12 feet long.

11/12/2012 temp in lab 52 pavilion 41 floor 57. Moved around shovels and rakes and made a hanger on north end of pavilion.

11/13/2012 temp in lab 57 pavilion 47 floor 60. Cutup slab pieces from mill for firewood. fit two celing tiles in lab around posts to complete the celing. This should help keep the heat in the lab as it gets colder.

11/14/2012 temp in lab 46 pavilion 30 floor 54. Wheeled cutup slab pieces to betelgeuse for fire. Continued working on celing in lab and upstairs.Made shelfs by stair to upstairs to hold maintaince materials.

11/15/2012 temp in lab 43 pavilion 27 floor 51. fired up Betelgeuse to put more heat in the floor.Worked on celing on second floor. Also put in the north window that had been previously made temporarly. Will have to make windows for north end later but need to keep heat in now so used the old window.

11/16/2012 temp in lab 42 pavilion 27 floor 50. Looks like going to have to use Betelgeuse most days until next spring to keep lab warm. Continued working upstairs to close in.

11/17/2012 temp in lab 41 pavilion 29 floor 49. Bright cold morning. Town graded the Jordan road yesterday and took away all the leaves that had filled up the ditches on the side. Sawed up a 9" red pine log from home. Got 8 2 x 4's that were 12 feet long. The blade I am using for the saw mill has had problems and sawed off at an angle. I rest the teeth and it saws ok now but wanders a log. This is not working to good for the red pine as the knots are hard and the sap wood is soft. When ever a know is met at other than right angles it deflects the saw blade and makes it wander. Probably have to use that blade only for opening up logs that are covered with mud and gravel than switch to a better blade once the CHANT is ready for sawing and all grit is gone.

11/18/2012 temp on lab 42 pavilion 41 (left pump on manual overnight) floor 48 airport 20. continuing closing in the northeastern corner of upstairs room. Moved electrical outlet so would feed through the new pine wall.

11/19/2012 temp in lab 42 pavilion 26 floor 50 airport 17. Put up 12" board over outlet and cut in.

11/20/2012 Road trip to Worchester. Didnt make it on the hill

11/21/2012 temp in lab 42 pavilion 32 floor 48. Trying new bright bronze paint for geological marker wood carvings. The last paint looked dull and lifeless

11/22/2012 Thanksgiving Day. Got up at 3:30 to stuff the bird. Didnt make it up on the hill.

11/23/2012 temp in lab 43 pavilion 32 floor 50.sawed up two pine logs. Used new blade which cut really smooth through the red pine log knots which are really hard.

11/24/2012 temp in lab 48 pavilion 35 floor 54. sawed up two more logs. One was a HOPhornbeam which I cut off an end to count growth rings. Was only able to get a 6 X 6 cant out of it. Will leave it in the 6 X 6 cant to dry. Thining the tree is over 100 years old. Other was largest red Pine I had at home. Got 10 1 X 10's out of it 12 feet long. Was spitting snow all morning.

11/25/2012 temp in lab 42 pavilion 27 floor 50 airport 28.Framed in the east wall of the Lab upstairs. Will leave a window to look out when the big sliding door opens.

11/262012 temp on lab 44 pavilion 31 floor 50 airport 30. Continued frameing in the east wall upstairs.

11/27/2012 temp in lab 40 pavilion 27 floor 48 airport 23. Cut some boards and ship lapped them for upstairs wall.

11/28/2012 temp in lab 40 pavilion 26 floor 48 airport 21. set mouse traps around pavilion. This is the worst year yet for mice. Made some more shiplap boards for upstairs.

11/29/2012 temp in lab 39 pavilion 26 floor 47. Cought 1 mouse in lab. sawed up one 1/4 cord pallet of slabs at saw mill.

11/30/2012 temp in lab 39 pavilion 25 floor 45. Missed the snow again. Still bare ground around but frozen solid. Rebuild one of the wood pallets that was badly warped and put a roof on it to keep water and snow off the wood when the pallet is setting

outside.

12/1/2012 temp in lab 37 pavilion 25 floor 45. Helped move barrells and material to Chester for the mirror class next week at the fletcher house. Cut some shiplap boards for upstairs.

12/2/2012 temp in lab 43 pavilion 29 floor 50. snowed last night with an inch of aclumination. really foggy out today. Made more pieces of shiplap for upstairs of the pavilion. Sharpened the router bit making the shiplap with diamond hone. Helped a little but wood is green and does not rout well.

12/3/2012 temp in lab 49 pavilion 40 floor 54. Snow melted and road is a little mushy down on Breezy Hill road this morning (early mud seasion by Fullams). cut Ash piece for window upstairs that will look out to the west when big sliding door is open.

12/4/2012 temp in lab 44 pavilion 33 floor 51. Good size muddy ruts by fullams this morning. Not bad enought to be a problem but big enough to throw the car back and forth a bit. Made more ship lap for upstairs.

12/5/2012 temp in lab 51 pavilion 42 floor 54. Bought plastic panel for light in celing upstairs and worked on framework to support it in the celing.

12/10/2012 Icy/snowy morning didnt get on the hill

12/11/2012 Temp in lab 46 pavilion 37 floor 50. Made pieces for sliding west facing window upstairs. Used three 12 foot long popular 2 X 4's. After planing and routing the glass pocket will let cure in the wood drying drum for a few days to bring relitive moisture down.

12/12/12 Temp in lab 41 pavilion 28 floor 48 Airport 25. cut and planed more window pieces. Router bit getting dull and not cleanly making glass pocket. Sharpened using diamond hone.

12/13/2012-12/14/2012 To cold didnt go on the hill.

12/15/2012 temp in lab 41 pavilion 32 floor 47. Worked on upstair windows. Put tin top on one pallet Ray brought. Moved the pallet to the saw mill and cut up the slabs that were in the buck.

12/16/2012 temp in lab 40 pavilion 28 floor 48.sanded one of the upstairs windows to get ready for the tung oil finish. Put wood filler into the imperfections of the other.

12/17/2012 temp in lab 39 pavilion 28 floor 48. snowing 3" so far not enough to plow but the roads are slippery. Gave first coat of tung oil to two upstairs windows

12/18/2012 Raining hard and roads icy. Didnt get up on the hill

12/21/2012 temp in lab 41 pavilion 32 floor 47. About 4 new inches of snow. Made it up with my suburu with no problem. Put glazing in the upstairs windows.

12/22/2012 temp in lab 42 pavilion 32 floor 48. Cut and planed the pieces to guid the window halfs back and forth in the frame. Installed them.

12/23/2012 tepin in lab 37 pavilion 22 floor 44 airport 25. Cold snap coming. Continued fittin the two upstairs window half sliders for the west side (inside the sliding outside door).

12/24/2012 temp in lab 38 pavilion 29 floor 45. Met three people and two poodles that were walking around. The older gentlman was a amateaur telescope maker so gave them the tour. Winter was barking so didnt take them over to the pink but they walked over. Put in heat lamp over computer terminal so hands dont get quite so cold when typing into the log
