These instructions are for the FigureXP.zip package you can download from http://stellafane.org/tm/atm/test/software.html. This instruction file is part of that package.
FigureXP will run on WindowsXP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, both 32- and 64-bit versions. However, you might need to adjust your configuration first before it will run.
You need to get all the files out of this .Zip folder into a regular folder. You can create a new folder and then drag all the files over to it from the .zip folder, or on some newer versions of Windows, you can right-click on the Zip folder and select "Extract All'.
From now on, we are working only in the regular folder, not the .zip folder.
Double click on FigureXP.exe, if it opens and runs you are all set. You can use the sample .fig files to see how works, before you create your own. Enjoy.
In many cases, particularly on newer versions of Windows, it may not run, but complain about a file called Comdlg32.ocx. This is something that was included in WindowsXP, but not other versions of Windows. FigureXP needs to have it installed as part of the operating system to run. In order to install it, you need to be running from an administrator account. The Comdlg32.ocx file was included with the files your downloaded with FigureXP.
