Despite a rainy Saturday evening it was fabulous as usual. Even the rain cannot take away the magic of Stellafane. For me, this year's highlight was the junior awards -- in the same month that Sky & Telescope has a cover story on the aging of the amateur astronomer, Stellafane goes ahead and showcases five outstanding telescope making by young people. It almost seemed as if the two organizations planned it that way! The oldest amateur astronomical conference on Earth still is very young.
The other thing that I felt, especially under the tent that Saturday evening, was the closeness of the STM members. We were kind of crowded in there and every one in the STM was exhausted from weeks of work, and yet, the enthusiasm that I felt among the STMers was infectious. Congratulations on #65!
