[2/21/1962] Carleton Damon, Service Station Operator, Dies
SPRINGFIELD - Carleton Bardwell Damon, 73, former village trustee and Springfield representative in the House of Representatives, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at his place of business, Damon's Service station on Clinton street in Springfield which he had operated for many years.
Mr. Damon was born in Springfield Aug. 2, 1889, son of Quincy and Kate (Sheldon) Damon.
He attended the Springfield public schools and graduated from Springfield High school in 1909.
Always interested in affairs of his community, he served on the board of village trustees from 1941 through 1946 and also as town representative in the Legislature in 1941 and 1942.
Mr. Damon was a member and past exalted ruler of Springfield Elks Lodge, 1560. Also he was a member of the Springfield Telescope Makers and the Congregational church.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie (Randall) Damon, whom he married in Proctor May 4, 1915.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Davis Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Charles P. Calcagni will conduct the services. Burial will be in Summer Hill cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
