A lot goes on in the week before convention, and this year we
are again going to share some photos
of some of the activities the occur before most of your arrive.
We made a large effort to get all the pavers installed this year,
and we thank the many volunteers who helped with this job and did a great job of installing them.
Additionally, we introduced engraved pavers at this year's convention, and we have a few shots of
them being made:

The pavilion got it's balcony extended, and we put up
the new plaques to recognize donors: |

There is plenty of work to do to get ready outside the pavilion also: general work
around the site, making sure our observatories are ready for use, getting the "fruit stand" in place
at the entrance. And yes, there is time to take a quick nap before dinner on a sunny rock after
a hard days work.

Did you ever wish your Wi-Fi setup had a bit more range?
We did. John Martin donated his old satellite dish, and we added in a pickup truck with a scaffold
in the bed that we used to help build the pavilion. Tape a USB Wi-Fi stick at the focus, string
together a few USB extension cables, put a PC in the cab and you are good to go (5 bars on the first
try!): |

It takes a daily morning meeting to organize all this
work, and Thursday evening we hold a regular club meeting to make sure we are ready for the convention
events on Friday & Saturday: |

"My camera is a Canon 20d with a Canon 28-135mm IS lens and a Sigma 28-300mm lens piggy back
on a Meade 10" LX200 GPS in alt. az. that's why there is some field rotation." |
